Rev. Dr. Bruce Jones Welcome 

 

It is my joy and privilege to be the pastor of La Plata United Methodist Church. I believe that God has called me to be here for exactly this time in our church's history. On behalf of the entire congregation, I want to welcome you to our church's web site, and I'd love to have you come and get a feel for our church family.

We are an open church that welcomes all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ or who are interested in learning more about him. We are a diverse and growing congregation with groups and activities for all ages.

I want to personally invite you to join us in worship any Sunday morning at either our 8:30 or 11:00 AM services. Or, if you enjoy a more casual and contemporary service, please consider trying our Wednesday evening service at 7:00 pm. I hope you will give us a try, and I look forward to meeting you.

About Our Pastor 

 

Rev. Jones has been the Pastor at La Plata United Methodist Church since July, 2008.  His experience includes appointments at five other churches since joining the ministry in 1980.

During the three years Rev. Jones has been with La Plata, our church has experienced continuing growth in numbers and in spirituality. Under his leadership, our church has added over 120 new members. He oversees a very active missions program, serving the community in a variety of ministries including an annual missions trip to Louisiana to help the rebuilding effort there.

Rev. Jones has been responsible for adding a new Wednesday evening worship service, as well as his popular Pastor's Monday Night Study classes.

Rev. Jones was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is married to Dawn Jones, has a daughter Courtney, and three daughters from a previous marriage; Kristin Kittle, Katie Summerford, and Lindsay Gadell. He also has three granddaughters.

His many interests include: most sports (golf, basketball, softball, you-name-it), computers (software & hardware), graphic art & drawing, architecture & design.
